Re: quick trip.
Sun, December 2, 2007 - 4:59 PMShould say that I've never been to Cozumel yet, but heard good things.
If no plane, then would dive here at the Channel Islands off of Southern California. Freeze my brain, but whatever. Good diving. :)

Re: quick trip.
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 10:52 AMBecause you're already in LA, I recommend a 3 or 4 day liveaboard to the channel islands. Or maybe down to dive the Yukon off san diego. Plenty of good diving, and no worry about the 24 (or 12 if you're feelin lucky) no dive time before flying. -

Mon, December 3, 2007 - 10:54 AMOhhhh - channel islands photos are in my profile - we were just down there over Thanksgiving and dove off the shores San Miguel almost exclusively. It was awesome diving. I also have a divelog of if at sarahgoesscubadiving.blogspot.com if anyone is interested in the Channel Islands. :) -

Mon, December 3, 2007 - 11:07 AMThose are gorgeous Sarah! Do you wear a dry suit? I nearly froze in 55F with a 5mm suit and core warmer last dive off Catalina. -

Re: quick trip.
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 12:22 PMThanks Amanda. I don't wear a drysuit although my husband and I are seriously considering buying them! The waters were 54 to 57 degrees and we were chilly during the surface intervals. Defintely shortened our dives. We wear 7mm fullsuits and a 5/3 hyperstretch hooded vest.

Re: quick trip.
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 1:07 PMI'll second that--awesome pics Sarah!
what kind of camera are you using? I've been using a Cannon PowerShot A620 (pictures in profile), but was thinking of getting something a little more appropriate for underwater shots. -

Re: quick trip.
Mon, December 3, 2007 - 1:25 PMYou all are going to make me blush!
I am using a Canon A710IS. Generally I use a digital sealife strobe, but it isn't working and so those were all taken with the onboard flash, hence the dark patch, generally in the bottom right hand corner of the photo. I shoot almost exclusively on macro though, which I have been told really helps the photos out.
As for your photos Jeff - they are beautiful. Any everyone should read his blog about his dives in the Galapagos. Awesome read! -

Re: quick trip.
Wed, December 5, 2007 - 8:46 AMRiveria Maya because it's easy to get to and I haven't seen that side of Mexico.
However, if I had an extra day or two I would say Argentina, diving during the day, tango dancing at night.
