I love Belize. I really do. Great diving right off the coast. And the blue hole is amazing. For sure a top 5.

Live Aboard on the Great Barrier reef is also great, but you really need to do some research because some of the liveaboards from Cairns just dock at one spot with millions of barely trained divers looking at broken coral.

I don't know if it is world class or not, but how come people on Tribe don't seem to beach dive Monterey and Northern California?

Egypt overrated. Fiji over rated. Thailand great but I give it bonuses for great food.

Cozumel (Mexico) and Honduran Bay Islands are great just because they are so cheap. So cheap to get to and cheap to be at.

I haven't been to Yap and Palau.

Probably not top 5, but I really like West Palm Beach Florida during turtle mating season.

Palau is awesome. I did the Aggressor liveaboard.

The island itself is very beautiful, and the natives are extremely friendly. If you can't swing the liveaboard cost, would recommend staying on the island and going out on daily boat rides. And don't miss a chance to take a couple of land tours of the island. :)

Truk/Chuuk is awesome, but not an island you'd want to stay on for very long. The natives aren't very friendly. You'll have to stay in a hotel when you get off the boat, in order to have some time between the boat and the next time you fly. I recommend spending as much of your time on Truk on a liveaboard.

Aggressor might still be doing dives at Truk. I know things got a little dicey after 2003, so... When I went, in August 2003, they had a guard who watched the boat at night, rifle in hand. We did not stay at port overnight... we stayed out in the lagoon.

It's been almost 4 years since I was there... things might have improved. Talk to the liveaboards who service Truk.

The wrecks and the shark dive(s) are just incredible at Truk. If you can safely go and see them, do it.

Truk Lagoon definately a must see.

At the moment (Oct 2007) only the Odyssey is operating a liveaboard at Truk. Thor Fin ran aground and is currently undergoing repairs.

But I am certainly going to Truk Lagoon again in about 18 mths and also going to do Yap.

Next year, our dive club is going to Vanuatu to dive the SS Coolidge.

    Turks & Caicos
New Zealand (almost anywhere on the east coast of the North Island)
Exuma Cays Land & Sea Park (no Scuba allowed but the free diving is great)
Great Barrier Reef (which I hope to dive on some day)
Madagascar (which I hope to dive at some day)

Ive only been in Central America, so can comment on what I saw there. Bay Islands were good for me because its cheap,I saw whale sharks, and I love deep wall dives. Belize was comparatively expensive and very average, other than the Blue Hole. Cenote diving in Yucatan was AMAZING and incomparable.

      In no particular order

Sea of Cortez -close by and inexpensive. Cousteau called it the worlds aquarium
Galapagos - see it before it's gone (I still haven't)
Antartica (under the ice) - never done it. Only seen pictures and it looks amazing, this would be a real dream dive for me.
Bonaire - Fabulous, easy shore diving.
Hawaii - the Big Island, amazing diversity, don't forget to dive the Hilo side as well as the Kona side

Bonaire....largest bait balls ever, clear water, intact reef, great macro..lovely people
Malapascua...thresher sharks are just really really cool and the island is lovely, and terrific muck dives
Channel Islands...I am a glutton for cold-water punishment and this place makes it all worth it
Cozumel...if only the cruise ships would sink or never ever return the place would be magical...it still is but a few too many divers per spot
Sipidan/Mabul...the area is a dump, the vis, eh...but over 50 turtles in two dives, dozens of white tips, frog fish, crocodile fish, stone and scorpion fish, giant cuttlefish...

I also loved Vancouver Island and Ft. Lauderdale diving, Honduras...eh, so so and Monterey/Carmel...well, it's home and sea lions and harbour seals ...ahhhhh
