Re: dive log
Sat, November 22, 2008 - 8:57 AMThe ruins are of the old cement manufacturing plant that was used to build the dam. It includes the ruins of a tramway that was used to carry aggregate. The area is seldom explored, because when the lake is at its normal levels, it is a tech dive and it always requires a boat to reach it. The current drought makes it possible to dive without doing a tech dive. -

Sat, November 22, 2008 - 10:01 AMThat's really awesome. I love things like that, although admittedly, I have never dove anything. Just love the lore. Hope that you enjoyed the dives - although I have a feeling you did! -

Re: dive log
Sat, November 22, 2008 - 2:39 PMWell, of course, if I had my wish, I would live in Belize and dive a beautiful coral reef everyday.
But this lake still manages to hold my interest after six years of diving in it.
As with any local diving, the key is to not fall into a rut.
Incidentially, if diving submerged ruins interests you, Arkansas has several lakes with entire submerged towns, and the lakes have good visiabilty. The one draw back to Arkansas is the lakes are cold. Mostly drysuit diving.
